|Britt leads Idaho XC at Regional|
EUGENE, Ore. - Idaho sophomore Barry Britt continued his strong season on Saturday with an impressive showing to lead the Vandals at the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships at Eugene, Ore.
Britt was the team's top finisher on Saturday as he traversed the 10,000-meter course in a time of 30:38.17.
Junior Markus Geiger was Idaho's second finisher on Saturday with a 46th-place showing and a time of 31:05.45. As a team, the Idaho men scored 413 points and finished 16th out of 25 schools at the competition.
Freshman Hannah Kiser led the Idaho women on the day with a time of 21:25.50 and a 64th overall finish. She was followed closely by junior Julia Veseth, who took 71st with a time of 21:30.99. As a team, Idaho scored 419 points and finished 14th out of 31 schools.
Junior Jeremiah Dubie (87th, 31:35.96), junior Michael Armon (121st, 32:04.84) and sophomore Jeff Osborn (153rd, 32:55.51) rounded out Idaho's top five on the men's side.
For the Vandal women, it was junior Anna Kalbrener (89th, 21:47.04), junior Lauren Schaffer (93rd, 21:50.67) and senior Erica Digby (115th, 22:09.87) who filled in the final three scoring positions.
Saturday ends a successful season for the Idaho men's and women's cross country teams in which the Vandals earned a women's Western Athletic Conference team title and accounted for six total all-WAC honors (two men's, four women's). Phipps was also honored as the WAC Women's Coach of the Year.
