University of Idaho sophomore Rachel Millet earned her
second Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week honor after winning four
times – three individual races and one relay, in last Saturday’s victory over
Northern Arizona.
Millet’s times in the 50 free (23.77 seconds) and 200
individual medley (2:04.17) were the best in the WAC so far this season. Her
winning 200 free time (1:52.31) is the third-best in the league as the season
nears its midpoint. She also swam the anchor leg of the Vandals’ winning 400
medley relay.
“Rachel would probably be the first one to tell you it’s
more of a team award than an individual award,” coach Mark Sowa said. “Even
though it’s recognizing her, it’s recognizing the program is taking some
significant steps forward.”
Sowa also credited Millet’s tireless work ethic and
competitive nature.
“She’s learned how to race at the collegiate level,” Sowa
said. “She’s comfortable. She enjoys racing.”
