2012 Outdoor: Rothwell was a WAC champion and NCAA qualifier for Idaho as a sophomore … qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the hammer throw, but fouled on his three attempts at the meet … took home the hammer throw title at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 187-7 (57.18m) for his second career outdoor First-Team All-WAC honor … added a Second-Team All-WAC accolade with a mark of 149-6 (45.56m) and a fifth-place finish in the discus throw … also finished seventh in the shot put with a season-best mark of 49-5.5 (15.07m) at the WAC meet … took fourth in the hammer at the Mt. SAC Relays with a career-best mark of 196-9 (59.98m) … including his WAC title performance, won the hammer throw at six different meets and broke the 190-foot barrier five times during the year … hit a season-best 150-8 (45.93m) in a sixth-place finish in the discus throw at the WAR V dual meet on April 7.

2010: Rothwell redshirted the 2010 indoor and outdoor seasons.

High School: Rothwell won both the shot put and discus state titles for Eagle High School as a senior in 2009. At the 2009 Idaho 5A state meet, Rothwell threw a personal-best 53-8.5 in the shot put and 175-5 in the discus to win that event by 12 feet. His 20 points helped the Mustangs take second in the team standings at the meet.

Personal: He is the son of Sam and Peggy Rothwell. He has one sister, Amanda. His major at Idaho is Mechanical Engineering.
