MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho director of track and field/cross country Wayne Phipps released the 2013 men’s and women’s indoor track and field schedule on Monday.
The 2013 Vandal indoor slate includes several meets in the Pacific Northwest and three weekends of home meets at the Kibbie Dome. Idaho’s men open their season as the defending Western Athletic Conference champions, while the Vandal women will look to break through for their first indoor track and field title.
Vandal track and field makes its debut on the weekend of Jan. 11-12, when they cross the border for the WSU Open at Pullman, Wash. Idaho will also compete at Washington State on Jan. 25-26 at the Cougar Indoor.
The first of Idaho’s three home meets will be the weekend of Jan. 19-20 with the Idaho Collegiate I and Idaho Open I. The 37th Annual Vandal Indoor will be the evening of Friday, Feb. 1, and will be followed by the Vandal Collegiate and Vandal Open on Feb. 2-3. The team’s third home action of the year will be Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16.
Idaho will be in Seattle on the weekend of Feb. 8-10 for the Husky Classic and Husky Open, and then again on Saturday, Mar. 2, for the Husky Last Chance Qualifier.
The WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held this season at Albuquerque, N.M. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be Friday and Saturday, March 8-9, at Fayetteville, Ark.
