DENVER - Idaho's Dmity Perevoshchikov has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Wee, for the week of Mar. 4-10. It is the second such honor for Perevoshchikov this season.

Perevoshchikov, a sophomore from Izheusk, Russia, went 2-0 at No. 1 singles against opponents from ranked teams during the week, and split a pair of doubles matches. At the top singles spot against No. 40 Oregon, Perevoshchikov won a marathon 7-6(14) decision in the first set before clinching the point with a 6-3 second-set win, as Idaho narrowly fell 4-3 to the No. 40 team in the nation. Against No. 73 St. Mary's he won another tough match, a three-setter by the score of 6-7, 6-1, 7-6. Perevoshchikov remains undefeated in singles play this spring, with a 12-0 record all at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and No. 63 Idaho is 13-1 on the season.

"Dmitry continues to battle and put up great results," Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. "I really feel he can continue to take his game to the next level."

The Vandals return to action with three matches in Hawai'i this week, as they take on Liberty on March 13 and Hawai'i and Whitman College on March 15, all in Honolulu.
