Kyle Barone has had a decorated career at Idaho and today he can add one more achievement to his impressive resume. ESPN’s Hollinger Division I Basketball Player Statistics has ranked Barone the 14th most efficient player from this year in all of Division I.
“It’s a great accomplishment,” Barone said. “It reflects what I can do on the court and how well I can do it and that’s important for me moving forward.”
Barone earned Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors for the 2012-13 season after leading the league during the regular season in scoring (18.2 points per game) and rebounding (10.9 per game). He also earned recognition as an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
“I put a lot of effort into it this offseason to get ready for this year,” Barone said. “I guess the hard work just paid off for me.”
He wrapped up his Idaho career as the best post player in school history by ranking No. 1 in games played (126), No. 2 in career rebounds (869), No. 3 in career field goal percentage (.585) and No. 4 in career scoring (1,433).
“This year I stepped up and became the player I saw myself as,” Barone said.
Barone’s journey doesn’t stop here. This month he will be competing in the Portsmouth Invitational where he will play against the best seniors in the country to show off his talents for NBA and International teams.
