PULLMAN, Wash –  Vandal senior Kyle Rothwell kicked off the season with an individual victory in the weight throw while junior Molly Meyers led the way for the women on Friday at the WSU Open hosted by Washington State.

Rothwell claimed the win in the weight with a heave of 56-10.25 (17.33m) while junior teammate Zach Trumbauer took third in the event with a toss of 54-07.5 (16.65m) and junior Alex Taylor hit a career-best mark of 46-08.0 (14.22m).

The remainder of the WSU Open will continue Saturday morning starting with the long jump beginning at 8:30 a.m. (PT). Track events begin at 10 a.m. with the women’s 60m hurdles preliminaries.
