Vandals Get Two Wins

PULLMAN, Wash – On the first of the two day Cougar Indoor meet, University of Idaho track and field posted two individual wins in field events Friday at the meet hosted by Washington State.

Senior Kyle Rothwell won the weight throw with a heave of 48-2.5 (17.74m), while junior teammate Zach Trumbauer took second in the event with a throw of 57-5 (17.50m) – and set a career-best in the event for a second consecutive week. Freshman Arphaxad Carroll took the long jump event with a leap of 23-9.5 (7.25).

Through four events in the men’s indoor heptathlon, senior Colin Briggs sits in second place with 2,876 points while sophomore Drew Thompson is in seventh at 2,476. On the women’s side freshman Taylor Sheppard finished fourth in the women’s pentathlon with a score of 2,369.

The second portion of the meet will begin Saturday starting with the men’s heptathlon 60m hurdles at 10 a.m. (PT).
