Throwers Open Outdoor Season

SPOKANE, Wash – The University of Idaho track and field team opened up to 2014 outdoor season with a group of throwers Thursday and Friday at the Whitworth Buc Scoring Invite at Spokane, Wash.

Freshman Ana Pardo claimed the top spot in the women’s shot put with a heave of 44-2.5 (13.47m) while senior Andrey Levkiv finished second in the shot put (54-10.75,16.73m) and the discus throw (155-6, 47.41).

On Thursday, senior Kyle Rothwell lead the way for the men in the hammer throw with a second-place heave of 177-0 (53.94m) while junior Alex Taylor followed in ninth with a toss of 135-4 (41.26m). For the women, freshman Katie Wardsworth placed second in the women’s portion of the hammer throw with a mark of 155-6 (47.40m).

The Vandals will be back in action next weekend at the Sam Adams Classic at Spokane, Wash., hosted by Whitworth University.
