|Sullivan Earns WAC Honor|
DENVER –Idaho’s Matt Sullivan has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, for March 31-April 6, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Sullivan, a junior from Caldwell, Idaho (Caldwell H.S.), opened the 2014 outdoor season with an individual victory in the pole vault the Sam Adams Classic in Spokane, Wash. His vault of 5.10m leads the WAC, ranks 25th in the NCAA West Region and 42nd in the NCAA so far this season.
"Matt had an awesome meet," Director of Track and Field Wayne Phipps said. " He cleared the record breaking height on a very short approach and had great attempts at 5.32m, which means he is really ready for a big vault when he moves back to his full approach."
The Vandals will be in action this weekend at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz. The meet starts on Friday and will continue into Saturday. Idaho complete alongside a number of talented teams including: Arizona State, Boise State, Northern Arizona, Penn State and Texas A&M.
Idaho will also send individuals to the WAR VII meet on Saturday in Spokane, Wash.
