DENVER – Idaho’s Alycia Butterworth and Tayler Feinauer have been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 28-May 4.

Butterworth, a senior from Parksville, British Columbia (Ballenas Secondary), improved her WAC-leading time in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 4. Butterworth's third-place time of 10:08.64 leads the WAC, is sixth in the NCAA West Region and ranks 15th in the NCAA so far this season. This marks her third WAC Athlete of the Week honor on the season and fifth of her career.

"Alycia ran a great race and it is exciting to watch her improve from week to week," Director of Track & Field Wayne Phipps said.

Feinauer, a sophomore from Hillsboro, Ore. (Glencoe H.S.), hit a season-best mark in the javelin throw on May 2 at the OSU High Performance meet. Her fourth-place mark of 43.36m (142-3) leads the WAC so far this season. This is the first weekly conference honor for the sophomore thrower.

"Tayler has been throwing very well all year and is getting very close to hitting a mark that will get her into NCAAs,"  Phipps stated.

The Vandals host the Vandal Jamboree this week at the Dan O’Brien Track and Field Complex. The meet starts Friday, May 9 and will wrap-up on Saturday. It will be Idaho’s final tune-up for the WAC Championships set for May 14-17 in Orem, Utah.
