Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Spokane, Wash.
High School: Ferris HS
Experience: High School

2009: Boyden started 16 games in goal for Idaho as a sophomore and compiled an 8-8 record. She had a 1.20 goals allowed average and shut out three opponents during the year. She held 11 opponents to fewer than two goals during the year. Boyden put together one of the best performances of her career on Oct. 2, when she made 10 saves in 109:44 in a 1-0 double-overtime win over Louisiana Tech, which entered the game as the nation's top scoring team. She also held Montana scoreless with three saves in a 1-0 win on Sep. 6 and halted Weber State with seven saves in a 1-0 win on Sep. 27. She was honored as the WAC Defensive Player of the Week for the games of Sep. 4-6 after going 2-0 and allowing just one goal with seven saves.

2008: Boyden started 15 of Idaho's 19 games as a freshman and led the team with 1455 minutes in goal. Her 90 saves on the year rank third in Idaho history, while her 1.61 goals-against average ranks fifth and her 26 goals allowed are tied for seventh. She led the Western Athletic Conference with a 5.62 saves-per-game average and ranked fifth in save percentage at .776. She earned her first career win and shutout in a 2-0 win over Idaho State. She stopped eight shots in 110 minutes in a 0-0 tie against Louisiana Tech on Oct. 12. She averaged 7.0 saves per game in WAC contests, including a career-high 10 against Hawai`i.At the end of the soccer season, she joined the Idaho women's basketball team, where she played in 14 games and started one as a reserve player. She scored eight points and blocked two shots and helped the Vandal women put together one of the nation's top turnarounds and finish a team-best third-place in the WAC.

High School/Club: Boyden was a two-time All-Greater Spokane League First Team honoree at Ferris High School. She was a four-year varsity starter for the Saxons and helped lead the team to a 2006 GSL co-championship. She was named an NECA Greater Spokane League Student-Athlete for the fall of 2007. She was a four-year honor roll student and National Honor Society member at Ferris. Boyden played her club ball with the Spokane Shadow, which she helped win back-to-back Washington state championships in 2006 and 2007. In 2004 and 2005, she helped the Shadow win United Soccer League Super Y-League Northwest championships and earned a Super Y-League National U-14 Player of the Week honor in the process. Also in 2004, she helped the Shadow earn a trip to the U.S. Club Soccer National Championship game. She was invited to the Northwest Region Olympic Development Program team each year from 2004-06 and qualified for the U.S. national ODP team in 2004.

Personal: Liz is the daughter of Bruce and Anita Boyden. She has two sisters, Jennifer and Hillary. She is the cousin of New York Giants tight end Kevin Boss. Her intended major at Idaho is Resource Recreation and Tourism.

Quoting Coach Showler: "Liz was involved with the national squad and she knows what it’s like to be at the top of the tree, so hopefully that will rub off on some of the other players coming in. She brings in some experience from being on a club team that was ranked as highly as tenth in the nation. She’s a quality goalkeeper who plays with a lot of confidence, is technically very good and has got some very powerful tools to add to our team. We’ll have great competition at the goalkeeper position and that’s healthy for the team.”
