Colter Kautzmann tied for 23^rd at two-over-par 218 as the University of Idaho men's golf team finished 13^th in its 2006-07 debut at the Purple and Red Invitational.

The Vandals had a team total 888. They rallied with two solid rounds after an inauspicious start to the 54-hole tournament.

"That first round really got us," coach Brad Rickel said. "I don't know if were tight or uptight or too anxious. Once they settled down, it go much better as the tournament went on. I'm looking forward to seeing more of that."

Russell Grove was two shots back of Kautzmann at 220 and in a tie for 33^rd. Jacob Koppenberg tied for 40^th (223), Craig O'Meara tied for 60^th (227), Brad Tensen was 82^nd (234) and Aaron Biel tied for 89^th (246).

Hartford won the 18-team event with an 863.
