MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho soccer program and head coach
Derek Pittman are excited to announce nine new signees for the signing class of 2017.
Â
Two athletes,
Makayla Presgrave and
Bridget Daley, joined the program for the spring semester, and are already fitting in well. The rest, seven in all, will join the team this summer, as Idaho looks to earn its third consecutive Big Sky Regular Season Championship.
Championships are the expectation in Moscow, and this class brings a ton of high-level experience that will surely translate to the college game. Losing nine seniors is never easy, but paired with a fantastic crop of returners, these newcomers will strive for excellence while taking Vandal Soccer to new heights.
Â
"Our staff is really excited to be announcing this incoming class for the 2017 season and we are looking forward to helping each of them develop into the players they hope to be here at Idaho," said Pittman. "Our coaches have worked very hard to bring in a balanced group of athletes and players that will continue raising the bar within our program.
Â
"It was never going to be easy to fill the holes of the nine seniors we are losing to graduation because they had such a huge impact on our program, but we truly feel our team will be even more talented in 2017 with our strong returning group and these nine new additions. This is a talent-filled class that boasts players that have competed and had success at the highest levels of youth soccer in this country in the USYSA National Leagues and ECNL. This is a balanced class with two goalkeepers, two forwards, three midfielders, and two defenders, who will all step in and compete right away to make our team stronger than ever this coming fall.
Â
"Our players have raised the expectations of what it means to be a member of our Idaho Vandal women's soccer team and we are proud to announce these new additions to our Vandal family and our championship culture."Â
